The Ernst Rietsche Award Allocation Guidelines
The Ernst Rietschel Art Award for Sculpture is jointly awarded by the Ernst Rietschel Kulturring eV (organizer) and the Antonius Youth and Culture Promotion Association (founder). The award is valued at €15,000. The winner is selected by a jury, who is jointly appointed by the award organizer and sponsor. The jury is appointed for each award and is composed of volunteer judges.
Every jury member nominates up to two artists for the award and then presents appropriate information and visual material to the remaining jury for selection. The competition is extended only to those artists working within sculptural means (no hobby artists). There is no limit to the artistic style.
The jury then meets and carries out a secret voting procedure, where an absolute majority decides the winner. Within this method, each jury member has two equal votes, making it impossible for them to vote only for their own nomination. In the event of a tie, a runoff election is ensued.
