Life and Career

1931 Born on April 2nd in Sonneberg, Thuringia
1946-1948 Trained as a Ceramic Modeler
1949-1951 Studied at the University of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar with Henry Domke, Hans van Breek (Breker) and Siegfried Tschiersky
1951-1953 Continued studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden with Eugen Hofmann and Walter Arnold
1954-1958 Master apprentice at the DDR Academy of the Arts under the direction of Gustav Seitz
Seit 1958 Freelaced in Berlin
1975-1978 Guest lecturer at the Art Academy Berlin-Weissensee
1978 Elected as full member of the DDR Academy of the Arts
1987-1990 Proffessorship in teaching arts at the DDR Academy of the Arts
1990-1992 Vice President of the Berlin Academy of the Arts
2010 Died on July 22 in Altlangsow, Oderbruch
